Hi Stewart,

From your description of the hydraulic tensioner I'd say there's nothing wrong with it.

The associated pulley has an Allen head adjusting screw which, when loosened, allows the pulley to rotate eccentrically about its mounting plate. It's this setting which is crucial for correct belt tension and it's a real fiddle. Do you need a link to the INA instructions for this ready for reassembly?
