I am getting an excellent radio am / fm on my driveway but a lot of intermittent interference whilst on the move.
The in-car entertainment and aerial systems are a bit of a nightmare to untangle Mike. Looking at my own car, the box you mention is connected to the HRW elements which also function as the aerial. It doesn't however feed a radio signal to the entertainment system. Its function might be to stop RF interference reaching the car's DC power supply since it is described in the parts catalogue as a "filter, screen aerial".

Is your excellent reception on your drive with the engine switched off or running?
Could the interference on the move be linked with varying radio transmitter signal strength? Is it particularly bad on FM regional stations?
