I think S spanner make work also but have not tried one yet.

Also use tow spanners together using a sump plug key to join them, which is glued into the one spanner.

Lots of methods but it still remains one of the more nasty jobs to do on the R40 if working off ramps lying on the floor on four poster lift i would imagine it would be easier.
