I cannot advise anyone, but it is not a difficult job if doing it via the two stage method (as you have described). You just have to make sure you have;
a. the correct fluid.
b. the correct drain plug (there is a bolt near to it, apparently is confused by some, which leads to one of the bands being disconnected, and requires a rebuild after - it is not as scary as it seems though). There is a very good how to which guides you through it.
You could also look out for a Landrover specialist near to you too (same as used on the Freelander)
