Picnic trays/tables were common in the 1960's - we had them in a Wolseley 6/110. Amazingly Jaguar deleted them in the 1970's (Mk10 Jaguars were the last to have them), and Rolls Royce and Bentley only have them by special order since the 1980's. Pleased to say my Daimler Super V8 has them as standard, along with reclining rear seats!

Plastic versions are now common on foreign models such as the Citroen Picasso from 2010, but are called business trays.
