These look pretty convincing don't they, but it's not in the same league as genuine chrome plating.

Neither of these demos is actually spray painting. Notice it all looks like water spraying. They're actually depositing a metallic silver film a couple of atoms thick onto the prepared/primed surface. It uses silver nitrate solution which reacts chemically with glucose solution. Exactly the same process they used to make telescope mirrors by. As a chemist and one-time telescope builder, I've done it myself and it produces a wonderfully reflective surface. The problem is, it's extrordinarily fragile and has to be overcoated with a laquer of some kind to stop it going black. Even so, it needs replacing every few years depending on the environment it works in.
