Then I bought a 3.5 V8 Vanden Plas. A much better car all round. When going to Germany it used to do around 32/33 mpg.I should not tell you this,but, when coming back from Germany one time, we got from South Mimms service ‘s on the M25 to home at Great Bar, Birmingham, in one hour ten minutes. We were travelling anywhere between 90-115 mph when no one was behind us at 2.30 in the morning with hardly anyone about.That was in the late 70’s .early 80’s. The only car that followed us was member of the Vauxhall’s family, and that passed us as we slowed down to come off the M6 at Great Barr. Aaahhh the good old days.
