I have at last sorted a spare key for the R75!
With lots of help from Trikey, on here, I was able to affirm what slot my remaining key was coded to.
I then rang BMW in Ipswich to get a quote for a key out of interest.
They told me they are not able to order keys anymore for Rover 75's?
Luckily, they were a bit more helpful than the Norwich branch and forwarded me to an ex Rover dealer in Suffolk, name escapes me now, who then helped me by giving contact numbers of a man who could and had done it for these cars.
It is Mobile Key Services, Peter, on the A140 at Long Stratton.
He said I could have the full remote option, or the manual key with no remote unlocking.
I know my door lock is working fine manually (I check regularly) so I went with the cheaper option. It is only a spare that will probably sit in my drawer anyway!
He said I could come back later to get a separate remote fob later if I wanted, for £30, but couldn't then as he didn't have any left.
Was done in hour and half, drove home fine with it.
Job done!
