I know exactly what you mean about the Triumph 2000 - the flattened off rear with the lights and number plate under the "lip" was a design "triumph"
for me.
I had a Mk3 GT6 which had the same sort of treatment and I still say that car was probably the best looking car I ever owned. So sometimes an upgrade can improve things - but it is a rare event IMO
