My first 75 tourer was a manual, and whilst on holiday the clutch decided to give up, so made it an expensive trip.
Was great that you could chug along at 30 in 5th (was a diesel) and put foot down and it would go all the way to 70 (and beyond) without changing gear.
When I changed it, it was for an auto, and to be honest in my opinion it's a much better car. Again a diesel but with the auto box, a much more refined drive. Much easier in traffic, and in general a better combination in my mind.
Yes, it's slightly more to insure than a manual, and more to tax, but hey I don't mind paying the little bit extra.

No longer a 75 owner as my tourer made it to the moon, and died on it's way back. But 1/4 million miles ain't bad.
