The second bomb dropped by the Americans was made from uranium 237 where the first was uranium 234 same material different isotope.
Both bombs were air detonated at 1500 feet causing massive destruction.
To my knowledge there has never been a deuterium oxide bomb ever deployed better known as a hydrogen bomb.
I keep wondering when we will kill our self’s. The closest I during my first life was servicing a squadron of Vulcan’s that were sitting on the runway 24/7 during the Cuban carry on in the 60s. These aircraft carried NATOs reply should the Soviet Union have launched a missile strike on the US. It is an episode of my life that I would like to forget, but it will be with me till die. Today the Royal Navy carry our nuclear deterrent. The bombs dropped on Japan are tiny in comparison to what we have today.
