Your proposal has been discussed several times on the forum. I believe it's rather more complicated than just fitting a 'better' single pump in the tank.
The standard advice is to replace it (and most likely the UBP as well) with known good quality ones.
Maybe worth attempting a thread search, though it's not easy to find stuff these days.
