I works in detection of movement in the field of vision via the lens, and/or it’s triggered by the sensitivity of the G sensor.
If it’s raining, and it’s 3am, any recorded footage wouldn’t show a clear enough image. I’ve tested this to catch next doors cat that was scratching its paws down my glass and bonnet last year
