If it is permanently live wired, surely the USB battery wont be used until the car battery drops to an unsafe to start level? (the last time I got the flashing no start warning, my battery read 12.1v out of the car!)

It has been a few years since I bought mine, but at the time, people used the USB battery as the main power source, with it being charged whilst ignition was on (switched live). This gave the standby power solely from the USB battery, he amount of which was determined by the USB battery, which meant the car battery would be unaffected by the camera use.

Camera -> USB battery -> USB battery 12v charger -> switched live.
