Had overdrive on my Triumph GT6 mk3, it was great fun as you did not have to lift off the accelerator to engage it, so as you hit the red line in 3rd engage the overdrive and it was like an instant gear change into top.
I suspose these could be looked at as an early version of 5 speed boxes......
