Yes indeed, add the thumbnail attachment to your post as already described. Then click on the thumbnail to make it open in its own window and click this picture again. That will expand it to full screen.
Now copy the url of this full frame image, then hit the back button until you are back to your original post.
Next, edit the post and type (IMG] followed by pasting the copied url, then [/IMG] at the end. Make sure you use a square bracket at the beginning '[' not a regular one as above, I had to here in order for you to see what I am typing.
Save the edited post and you'll have the picture embedded at full size
