I was told that high end expensive luxury cars once they reach 5+ years old start to become generally undesirable as repairs start to be needed with the accompanying high costs for high end cars.
If you can afford to run and properly maintain a high end MB, BMW or Porsche you can afford a no worry, no repair bills lease on a new one.
A few years ago if the traction control or airbag light came on (or even the engine management light) you could live without it, but now will fail the MOT and diagnostics and repairs to such items as Traction Control and ABS at usually having to use main dealers can be horrendously expensive.
