Thanks all (and especially Arctic for the pics)

I think progress is being made of sorts. Fairly confident I'm in the right bit from the pics.
It appears that the white plastic grip, is no longer in the right place (has slipped) as non of my rod appears to be sticking out the other end.

However when I Push down on the bit it immediately pops back up again.
Waiting for the wife to get back so that she can try and open the door when I push down.

Hopefully that will fix it. If its does, is there a shorterm fix where I can leave the door unlocked, or is this now the procedure until the latch is replaced.
