Had a word with a most annoying know-all, I hope my patience is appreciated, and the correct term is 'Bark'. He says: 'Contrary to popular opinion it has nothing to do with the bark on trees. It comes from the habit of the males (dogs or bucks, as they are called he thinks) calling for you-know-what services from those bushy-tailed beauties with the eye-lashes who just happen to have a minute or two in between coquettishly showing off'. Sounds familiar.
