Exactly that happened to me. Contrary to the advice given above, I carried on drving, as it seemed intermittent, and I was a bit preoccupied at the time... so I needed a replacement alternator.


So whatever you do, I wouldn't carry on driving it. I'm no expert, and no doubt somebody with encyclopaedic knowledge like Arctic will be along to advise.


Access is pretty awkward down that side of the engine, but I know it can be done (by people more skilled than I).
