Bought my 2003 Rover 75 Diesel Tourer automatic at the end of May and have been really impressed by the smoothness of the auto gear changes. There are numerous signs that the car has been neglected and it has covered 104K. I've checked the plenums (no water found), changed the oil and filter, cabin filter, air filter and fuel filter. My local garage (A E Wilcox & Sons, Wickwar) were a Rover agent and still service many 75s and (to a lesser extent MG ZTs). I entrusted the transmission oil change to them and they charged me £113.58 (yesterday). They said that the condition of the oil suggested that it had been badly in need of a change and that it had been overfilled by whoever did the job last time. That said, it certainly drove OK before the change of oil and drives no differently now as far as I can tell. Shouldn't need doing again until 2020.
