That's a good tip , and has worked for me . I took many photos of headstones in a number of graveyards and then gradually worked out relationships. His grave will have her in it , that gives her death date and age , that gives you her birth date , parish or church records give her birth name .....and so on .
The problem you may meet is headstones that old may be worn away ( especially if they are on a windy hill in the peak district ! ), but you can try your hand at charcoal rubbings
A good thing about this is that if you have to drive around a load of old churchyards , then a Rover 75 is a nice way to do it . Good luck !
