I think the OP is pointing out the cut out in the right hand side of the rubber thing around the gear selector, indicating it should have had tiptronic transmission.

In other cars with tip tropic, you can throw the stick over to the right to put it into manual.

Very interesting. I had never given that cut out a second though. I wonder if MG/R had plans to implement it ? Unless it is just the same shroud as the freelanders use, or even E46 BMW's, as they both have tiptronic.
