The Engine will be locked and I assume it does not matter in which position the pump/valve will be in when fitted. But please confirm

Hi Adam.
yes the round seals are extra for another type of HPFP
now it does not mater how you put the pump shaft back in but always best the the same way if possible.
So you purchased an extra HPFP off ebay then serviced that, you could have bought one from me already done
but at least you have an extra one now which you can service
