Hi

I have owned numerous Rover 75's and on my 3rd S type. The first was a 3.0 petrol year 2000 which had the Ford sourced 5 speed box which failed and cost me about £1800 for a recon unit. This was followed by a 2005 2.7 diesel with the 6 speed ZF box and I loved it. I sold it to a friend almost 4 years ago and he still has it, now with 137000 miles on the clock and he takes it to the South of France every year. He has spent a lot of money on the car this last year, including a number of suspension replacements and welding to the cils on both sides, heater control valve and gearbox fluid replacement but he still thinks it is worth spending the money.

I followed this with an X Type 2.2 for a year and then an XF 3.0D. This is the natural successor to the S Type and is a superb motorcar in every way. The uprated 3.0 gives a useful power and economy improvement compared to the 2.7 unit.

18 months ago I sold a 32000 mile 1 owner Rover 75 2.5 Connoisseur and bought a 2003 S Type 3.0 petrol with LPG and intend keeping it as long as possible providing LPG remains available locally (Morrisons 57p/litre)
