Reverse psychology is very useful. One could start the conversation off with an apology i.e. " I hope we don't disturb you as we have realized that sometimes we have our volumes up a bit? " and temper the rest with tactful comments. I have no doubt the first would be "oh, do you hear us?" so possibly answered by " sometimes, but it's only to be expected! "
