Two questions:
- does the clonk, attributable to worn top bearings, manifest itself suddenly?
- it it likely to be safe (as opposed to irritating) to use the car for a week (attending a wedding in Cornwall next weekend) and about 600 miles?

Thanks for any info offered.

Derek.
If you are certain, it is the strut top bearing, it is not a reason for an MOT fail - so no reason not to drive it.

They don't suddenly fail, but in your case perhaps the bearings rusted up with being stood for so long with moisture trapped in the bearing?

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
