Thanks T-cut I have seen the link but also seen other comments about the carpet being thinner on later models, some carpeting deleted around the heater vents etc. If I compare the boot lining on the earlier car to the later there's a difference in the thickness too (must re-check tomorrow).
But as poster 75V6 agrees the earlier cars are quieter, and as I'm using the same wheels I can't blame them. it's now a question of finding out what I can do to improve my 2004 model.
