Is it conclusive that it is a faulty MAF?

If it is, can anyone recommend a particular make that has been successful?
I'm looking at RIDEX part which is stated as high quality and compatible with the original part number MHK101130

Complete waste of money I'm afraid Larry, there are no substitutes for the original Bosch part.

HERE or HERE for example.

Cheap MAF sensors can be likened to rolling up a handful of tenners and setting fire to them, this is definitely a case of buying cheap and buying twice
