May seem a silly question but has anyone checked the fluid level in the autobox.

Mine demonstrated exactly the same symptoms but over a shorter distance ie 100 yards or so not two miles. felt like a clutch slipping and increasingly no drive. Accompanied by a smell which I now know to be hot transmisssion fluid

Hose from box to oil cooler had come adrift - a not unheard of happening I understand. All fluid dumped on the road so it was easy to see but if you had a smaller leak you might not have noticed.

Fix was about £35 for a hose and 5 litres of fluid about £30. Plus labour of course.
