I quite agree, my last 3 diesel cars, plus my diesel van - do NOT smell of diesel, -unless you sniff their tailpipes! My2001 CDT does its 100mile per day commute with smooth, quiet ease, returning close to 45mpg on standard diesel, - and I am keeping up with most of the Audis and BMWs in the outer lanes of the uncrowded, Cumbrian M6. If your car smells of diesel, get it fixed - it must have a leak!
