Two things come to mind Sheran: - Have you checked, using the "demist test", that the fan does run at slow speed? It's highly unusual for a garage to source a resistor and solder it in place reliably.
- It's likely that your cooling system wasn't bled properly with the consequent risk of an air lock which can cause symptoms mistaken for head gasket failure.
