I have a sorned MGF, which having eaten 2 batteries in the last year, is now disconnected after I have run it up to temperature for 10 minutes, every couple of weeks. One day soon, I'm gonna get it welded and back on the road!

All modern cars 'leak', as in even when parked up and everything turned off, the ECU's still use some power. That 'leakage' can be anywhere between 20 and 60mA - my 75 is now very good at 20mA, but I make a point of replacing that lost charge once per month whilst the car is unused. It might be worth disconnecting these cars batteries, when they are in long term storage.
Pre-ECU cars should have no leakage at all, those built before around 1980 - 1990.
