160 remap by PhilT4 didn't produce any noticable effect - the car is the 131 model.

It's been T4'd several times, and given a clean bill of health - and is maintained by a Rover specialist.

Anybody got any ideas

PS mixed short and long distance driving, but for the last couple of weeks I had a lot of motorway to do, so reset the mpg meter - it only rose to 44.1.
42-43mpg is perfectly good. All these people that get over 50mpg around town aren't doing brim to brim tests, the engine is old and the car is heavy. You won't really notice much from a 131ps stock tune to the "160" map. A stock 131ps car runs about 120bhp on a calibrated dyno. A "160" mapped car runs about 130bhp.

My Alpina D3 managed around 43mpg around town and touches 57mpg on a run, but this is with a 6 speed gearbox.
