One of the things putting me off many modern cars is the stop start technology.
When test driving a new Mini earlier in the year, I asked the salesman if this could be turned into defaulting to the off mode, and turned on when desired rather than having to switch it off every time the ignition is cycled.........no was the answer, and why would you want that in any case?
Of course I know this can be deleted with third party tools, however I suspect this would invalidate a manufacturer warranty in double quick time, so it became a deal breaker.
It might help the OP to state the model of the non MGR car, it's not a lynch mob if you own a non MGR product
