Bill, you can remove the instrument pack (IPK)easily enough to disconnect it with the battery connected to save the problem of the radio losing it's code

Two screws out of the thumbnail trim above the binnacle, and one screw securing the IPK into the dash.

Once these have been removed, grasp the IPK and it should pull out towards you

The two plugs can be disconnected by first depressing the clasp securing the "hinge" which is rotated through 90 degrees automatically unplugging the connector from the IPK.

Leave it for five minutes, then reconnect, this should cure your issue
