Did you swap out the little black transponder from the old key?
If the new one has a transponder, was it coded to the immobiliser unit (ews) at the bottom of the drivers side a post?
If no to any of the above, it won't work.
Edit. Just 're read the mention of transponder
Try swapping them.over. But the new one will need to be programmed to the ews.
