Thanks for the confidence boost. Well I'll have a fair amount of time free to tackle it while it's off the road. As I say, the noise happens sometimes, but not every cold start, I did think to myself earlier, just ignore the noise and tell myself it's oil reaching the cylinder head. I don't know how long it's been making the noise, we bought it like that at 63k miles.
