For longevity, and reliability, the diesel is better, and very nice to cruise in on the motorway, at 69.9 mph, better, much better at 85mph (obviously not in the UK!) the car is nicely geared to give a very comfortable but satisfying drive, I am not in to the 1.8 in either turbo or normally aspirated form, and the V6s are too underpowered and belt driven requiring expensive servicing, the thermostat housing is weak and will need regular replacement, the Vis motors fragile, all in all a poorly designed engine the leads to fragility, not for me.
