Without having seen it I can’t really say, I’d assume that they consider them worn to point of needing replacing. If they are damaged, I’ve no idea of if they damaged them, or the person who did the clutch years ago, damaged them and the they’ve worn.

Took me about 2 hours on the drive to change them, hardest part was removing the gear knob that a previous owner had glued on.

Car has been perfect ever since.
Thanks, I’ll get a pair ordered. The garage said something about having to drop the exhaust a bit to get access to the gear stick end of the cables. Did you have to do that? The gearknob will be tricky, it pulled off when I put it in reverse years ago, so was packed out with a bit of paper and it’s not on there solid...
