The Screwfix plate fits in width great, the length is also good.

The six holes could maybe used either to add liquid metal or spot welds?

I personally think its best to drill an 8mm-10mm hole in the centre and as above use the plate as I did in my photo's.

Cheap fix and you get a pack of ten, bonus for using the other plate for something else.
