I had to remove a tight one the other day for a fella i know
All you have to do once the hub has been spread a little (use a chisel in the slot to open a small amount)
use a long bar against the lower arm (go over the arm and under the subframe) apply gentle downward pressure as you rock the hub back and forwards towards the car and the joint should slide right on out
