Not being funny here, but why the hell do folks mess about by trying to remove the leg from the hub carrier. The problems this potentially cause are inconceivable.
Knowing that this pinch bolt is notorious for being either stubborn or capable of snapping off as shown, why not drop off the drop link from the anti-roll bar, drop off the caliper complete, bottom ball joint pinch bolt out and hub nut off and finally the track rod end.
That way you can remove the abs connector and 3 nuts from the upper suspension turret. All off in 1 piece and nothing damaged ?
Talk about making extra work !
Believe me, it's so easy to do, I do them at the roadside / car parks etc this way and find it so easy to do without breaking anything at all. 1/2 hour max for each operation, the spring takes 10 mins to change with the leg off.
