If the car has a sunroof, I'd suspect the EWS to be water damaged, I've seen this on numerous occasions now, even if you live on the Queensland coast

Make sure the car is in neutral ignition in position 2 then apply 12v directly to the starter Lucar terminal, does it now start?

If it does, first check fuse 6 in the passenger compartment fusebox, if this is ok,
then your next step is to remove the EWS and check the wiring for continuity from pin 1 of the plug which is a white and red up to the starter motor Lucar

Another possibility, quite unlikely however is the transponder has come adrift from the key, or is corrupt in some fashion, if you have a message centre speedo, is there a picture of an engine with a cross overlaid?
