The Connie actually made 163k miles on the clock and had an engine replacement not long after I purchased it and 'blew up' the original...
I don't work on the cars anymore. No facilities, knackered up knees and fingers and hands that don't do well anymore. Can manage some stuff on but leave most to a friend with his own garage business. He's kept the 75 and 25 on the road for the last few years.
Apparently the offside rear upper arm had rotted away. The bolts on the subframe are so badly corroded that he thinks it will be very difficult to get them out and the nearside is going to go the same way. He's worried that it could spiral into a time and cost consuming exercise hence the decision to scrap. I limped it the 2 miles home (avoiding the potholes) and parked it up on the drive ready to get the fuel out.
Except for enjoying reading the tech stuff and a few other bits I haven't spent a lot of time posting on forums so am having some problems finding my way around yet.
Thanks for the help and advice, it is certainly appreciated.
