Hi Andy,
Do you think it's likely that the seals specifically for an air conditioning system would be made from a material which isn't compatible with its oil and furthermore that MG Rover would then deliberately recommend its use?
I wouldn't fret too much about it Andy. I've never known an air conditioning seal to disintegrate over 35 years of doing my own repairs.
