Looking from rear to front, the end with the electrical connector should be on the left hand side.
Since some fuel has leaked back out when you disconnected, you will need to fill the line to the fbh again, either by multiple retries or other means.
I disconnect the fuel line to the fbh, put the open end in a jar. Then connect a separate 12v supply to the pump, that I can make/break the circuit repeatedly to operate the pump. When fuel enters the jar, the line is primed.
