The really untidy examples seem to be sadly passed on now, leaving much better cars (by and large, anyway) - and these are commanding good money.
I was watching a low mileage Mk1 75 CDTi on eBay a couple of months ago - was very pleased when it sold for £3,600.
Exceptionally fine cars, and hopefully most will now be cared for in the hands of enthusiasts.
We're seeing a similar trend with the sale of parts - while everyone is still ordering the 'basics', there's an awful lot of owners spending large amounts on complete suspension kits and preventative maintenance of expensive components.
