I suppose it's easy to criticise from a distance and some of that has reasons other than the 'sport' he constantly excels in, whatever anyone says about the back-up he gets from his employers.
He has in the past been scoffed at for his fortune but that now appears to be resolving. In the news today, his knighthood is confirmed so he joins the select body of other sports knights.
It might not be widely known but part of the vetting for qualification for that title includes in-depth examination of his tax affairs. It transpires he is, and has been for a long time, in the top 5000 of highest taxpayers in the UK. That's not necessarily earnings, just tax actually paid. The fact that he lives in a tax avoider's haven like Monaco and resists the temptations to jump on bandwagons is surely to his credit. More power to his elbow. By the way, that examination takes a long time so the fuss about the award did not have any effect on the decision to consider him.
But I do wish he'd get over the challenging hair complex.
