Hello David,

I have the genuine MG Rover rubber boot liner and I've just been out to measure it. It's approximately 2mm thick. Now I know that sounds thin but I've had it for over ten years and amazingly nothing has damaged it. Also, you won't want it in there to spoil the gentlemanly Rover image when visiting the Ritz and the porters retrieve your hand sewn Italian leather luggage from the boot. This is when the liner's flexibility is appreciated as it can be easily removed, rolled up and left at home in storage.

On the other hand, if you're planning to transport gearboxes and concrete rubble in your boot then I'd agree with Ian that the 5mm version would be the best choice.
